About our grants

Both individuals and member groups can apply for grants from the Council. The goal of the grants is to encourage arts activity, from Playmor Junction to the Village of Slocan.

Before filling our your form, read through the guidelines for applications and look at the example of a completed form.  Note that your budget must be balanced.

Fill out a form which you will find in the individual and member group sections of the website if you have a project that needs a helping hand; need money to hire artists or musicians for an event; or are short on supplies for a community event. Explain how the grant would help you and bring art into our beautiful and diverse valley. Grants can not be used to create infrastructure (eg. build a stage). The more people your event will reach, the more likely you are to receive a grant.

Scholarships are awarded to outstanding, upcoming local artists who want to attend a special workshop, program, or school.

This year we have funding available for individual grants of $500 each, and  group member grants of $400 each.  Grant Application Deadline is December 2, 2016 at 5pm. Your project must begin after February 2017 and be completed by December 2017. You will receive notification of your approval on or before the end of February 2017.

Individual artists can also apply for funding through the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance. They have funding available once a year; application forms are available in January with a deadline in mid-March. The Arts Council’s role here is administrative. For more information see our CKCA page.
