Pamela Nagley Stevenson

I have worked as a studio potter in the Slocan Valley from 1976, and taught World Ceramic History and Clay Studio classes at Kootenay School of the Arts, in Nelson BC, from 1993 to 2013. My passion for ancient world ceramics has shaped my life with clay. My work sources realms of dreams, mythology, sacred arts and the natural world. I have devoted my self to building and firing wood-soda fired kilns to achieve the rich complex surfaces I desire. I honor the mystery and lineage of the traditions of wood-firing in my creative process. Through the alchemy of wood flame at extreme temperatures, my pottery glows with incomparable intensity, and echoes and interprets classical historical traditions.
